Ayurvedic cure for rashes on skin

Ayurvedic doctors would suggest a detox treatment along with internal medications

I have itchy skin rashes on my body, also some sores in my mouth. My doctor diagnosed it as lichen planus. Can you suggest an Ayurveda remedy?

Lichen Planus is a non-contagious inflammatory disease that affects the skin, mouth, or both. It may also affect the genital area.

On the skin, lichen planus usually appears as purplish, often itchy, flat-topped bumps, developing over several weeks. In the mouth, genitals and other areas covered by a mucous membrane, lichen planus forms white patches, sometimes with painful sores. The cause is not known. While there are many theories to explain the cause, most dermatologists believe it can be classified as an autoimmune disease. This means, white blood cells which usually fight germs begin to attack the normal parts of the skin, mucous membranes, hair, and nails.

There are cases of lichen planus-type rashes which occur as allergic reactions to medications for high blood pressure, heart disease, and arthritis. Medical treatment focuses on controlling your pain, reducing lesions and prolonging the periods of time when you’re symptom-free.

This rash can also appear on the scalp and nails. It causes redness, irritation, scarring hair thinning and hair loss when involving the scalp.

Ayurvedic doctors would suggest a detox treatment along with internal medications. To create an Ayurvedic treatment, please consult a ayurvedic practitioner who can understand the features of your condition from an ayurvedic perspective (i.e. Vata, Pitta and Kapha imbalance). Ensure the following lifestyle remedies:

aloe± Keep your mouth clean to reduce your symptoms and help prevent infection.

aloe± Avoid alcohol and tobacco products

aloe± Spicy foods, citrus juices, tomato products, coffee, cola, and crispy foods like toast and corn chips can aggravate lichen planus especially if there are open sores in the mouth. Consider cutting out spicy or acidic foods if they seem to cause or worsen your symptoms.

aloe± Avoid or reduce yoghurt, seafood, jaggery, sesame seeds, sesame oil, salty and sour foods, urud dhal, fermented foods.

aloe± Try applying ghee or coconut oil on the skin lesions

aloe± Have regular oral examinations

aloe± Lichen planus has been linked to anxiety, stress and depression. If these are issues for you, talk to your doctor
