In today’s scenario, every parent is concerned regarding the safety of their child. They are confused with all the information that they are receiving through social media. No parent is sure as to which plan they should stick to, and ends up trying everything that’s going around in social media. This inappropriate use of health tips can also harm the child if they are not adequately administered.we provide ayurvedic treatment in Dubai with expert ayurvedic practitioners.

A very simple tip I can advise is that a mother or a parent is the first and best doctor a child can have. So instead of running behind all the tips, assess your child’s health condition by considering their daily activities, hunger, energy to involve in games and other activities. One should also try to evaluate if their child can pass stool and urine regularly without any difficulty. By assessing the hunger, energy for activities, optimal stool, and urine excretion, a parent can understand the health status of their child. Depending on this simple assessment, we can decide what is right for your child.

Child health in Ayurveda

Kaumarabhritya is a branch of Ayurveda that explicitly deals with child health and diseases. This branch focuses on maintaining all the key aspects of a child’s health including nutrition, digestion, metabolism, and immunity. Ayurveda explains that for obtaining a healthy child each parent should follow certain regimens even before the conception. These regimens ensure the proper formation of a fetus and its optimal growth and development.

The couples who are planning for a child can undergo prenatal bio purification treatments mentioned in Ayurvedic classics to obtain a healthy progeny. By undergoing this treatment, it will enable the gametes (sperm/ ovum) to proliferate their best qualities, prepares the uterus to receive a healthy embryo, and remove any unwanted defects of gametes (sperm/ ovum) as well as the uterus. During the first few weeks of conception, Pumsavana Karma is advised by Ayurveda to be performed on the carrying mother. This procedure will ensure the proper fixation of the embryo to the uterus and also confirms the optimal growth and development of the embryo.

Proper nutrition of the mother during her pregnancy also ensures the health of the baby. Her nutrition should include food that is endowed with qualities like Madhura (Sweet), Snigdha (unctuous), sheeta (cold), laghu (light), and hita (wholesome). She should avoid strenuous exercise, fasting, foods which are dry in quality and less in quantity. Excessive thoughts, fear, depression, staying awake at night, suppression of natural urges can cause anomalies in the fetus. By following a healthy daily routine and by proper nutrition, paves for optimal growth and development of the baby.

Ayurveda has mentioned the regimens that should be followed by mother and child after the birth of the baby. There are many precautionary methods and health practices advised in Ayurveda that if followed increases immunity. Sthanyapaana or breast milk feeding has been advised exclusively for the first six months of age. This allows the baby to gain the immunoglobulins from the mother that is necessary for the immune system. If the breast milk is substituted by other feeds, proper development of the immune system is hampered which results in recurrent infections in childhood.

Proper nutrition in the first 1000 days of a fetus is very important for proper growth and development. After 6 months of age, complementary feed should be introduced as mother's milk alone won't be able to meet the nutritional requirements of the baby. While introducing complementary feeds, careful observation should be made to find out any allergic reactions. At a period, a single type of food should only be introduced. Madhura (sweet) pradhana ahara should be given at the first and slowly introduce the rest among shadrasas (sweet, salty, sour, spicy, bitter, and astringent). By attaining 1 year of age, shadrasaupeta ahara (food containing all six tastes) should be given daily which helps in nourishing all dhatus like Rasa(plasma), Rakta(blood), mamsa(muscle), medas(fat), asthi(bone), majja(bone marrow), etc.

Immunity enhancement through Ayurveda

Ayurveda focuses on attaining health by balancing the tridoshas. By balancing tridoshas the body becomes stable and has the power to fight off infections. If your child is suffering from recurrent infections, the digestion needs to be corrected first which helps in balancing the tridoshas. Ama (toxins) can get accumulated due to impaired digestion and can result in decreased immunity. By correcting digestion, these toxins will get eliminated from the body and thereby maintaining the health of the child.

Due to the age, the child is having a Kapha predominance in the body. Thus, Kapha predominant foods if consumed in excess can bring about an imbalance in tridoshas leading to reduced immunity. Avoid excess consumption of sweet and oily food items that are heavy to digest. Encourage the child to eat natural/ organic food rather than fast foods. Reduce bakery food items like biscuits, cake, chocolates, etc that usually end up harming the child's digestion. Fix a healthy diet plan for your child by including fresh boiled vegetables, legumes, whole grains, and fruits. Try to introduce healthy food items playfully that the child finds interesting and tasty to eat. Ayurvedic doctor in Dubai  health care city, Ajman, Karama, al Nahda, and Jumeira will be able to advise a diet plan if your child is a picky eater.

Physical activity in any form must be encouraged and should become an unavoidable part of your child's daily activities. Introduce yoga asanas like Surya namaskara to your child. Rather than forcing the child to do them daily, a parent should do it together with their child. This increases the parent-child bonding and also helps in keeping the child healthy.

Ayurveda can help your child by improving the innate or natural immunity by doing regular shodhana and Nitya Rasayana. Age-appropriate shodhana methods are explained in Ayurveda which can help in pacifying/ rectifying a disease condition. Shodhana for swasthya (healthy) purposes is also mentioned which helps in maintaining health. Certain rasayanas are specially mentioned in Ayurveda for improving the immunity of a child. Kottakkal Ayurveda products are available like chyavanaprasa lehya, Nagabala Rasayana, pippali Rasayana, etc should only be consumed after consultation with an ayurvedic doctor.
